Hey guys! Welcome back to A Literary Latte!
I haven’t typed those words for so long (almost 2 months wow) and for that firstly I want to say I’m sorry for the absence! I’m in my last year of A-Levels and it’s been a lot more than I anticipated. That combined with a lack of motivation (thank you Covid :)) means that I just haven’t been in the mood for reading or blogging. But, recently my mood on that has done a total 180° and I’m back to reading regularly; meaning my mood to blog has returned!
With that in mind I thought it would be so much fun to write a Christmas-y blog post (just in time because it’s Christmas Eve (??!). I was tagged by the tag creator, Erin @ Reading on a Star to do the Baby It’s Cold Outside book tag. And so that’s what we’re doing today! This song is also my favourite Christmas song (the Michael and Idina version) so I’m so excited to answer the questions!
Hope you enjoy <3.

1. Snow Day – What’s your “comfort” book.

I have quite a lot of comfort books actually but my top two – depending on my mood – are Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda and Anne of Green Gables.
They’re both just so happy and relaxing to read, and I’ve read each of them quite a few times. Simon tends to be my holiday read – I actually read it twice on my last holiday so it’s such a mood booster. I think all of Becky Abertalli’s books have that feel-good vibe actually but Simon more than any.|
Anne was also one of the first ‘big’ books I remember reading back at aged 7 (and the cover I showed is still one of my fave covers).
2. Snow Angels – What’s a book that you love so much you would want to be buried with it(a little morbid, but…)?
I actually don’t think I have just one book?? If I could just bury the feeling that a good book brings though. Then that haha.
3. Warm Socks – What’s a book that makes you feel warm inside?(The fluffiest, cutest romance you’ve ever read?)
Could 100% pick Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda again because I am basic and that book brings so much warmth.
I do love contemporaries though so some other faves:
(Also how cute are these covers together?!)

- Tweet Cute by Emma Lord – I really loved this one and it’s exactly what it says on the tin!! The rival business aspect was so much fun and I think it’s one I’ll reread at some point too.
- Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston – I finally read this one this year after giving in to all of the hype and again I loved it! So glad I listened to you all because it was such a nice read. I loved the politics aspect too and it’s nice to know that something like that happened in 2020.
- To All The Books I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han – duh. The film is also so feel good for me and I think they did it so well.
Send me all of your cute contemporary recommendations though if you have any because I’m always looking for more!! <3.
4. Hot Cocoa – What winter-themed novels have you previously read?

I really haven’t read enough winter-themed books so there are only two festive/winter contemporaries that I remember reading. One of these is Let it Snow by John Green which was good/okay but kind of average – same for the film which I watched last year when it was released.
The second is Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn. I reread this recently and I loved it. It’s definitely a pretty cheesy, younger teen YA but this book definitely feels so cosy for me. I actually discovered recently that it’s a trilogy not a duology like I originally thought so I definitely need to reread the second one so that I can get to the last one this winter.
5. Sledding – What’s a book with the best plot twists? Who’s an author that always keeps you on your toes?

110% the Shadow Games trilogy which was INCREDIBLE. So many twists and so many turns. The endings were so intense and I honestly loved every minute of it – would definitely recommend!
I’ve added Amanda Foody‘s debut book Daughter of the Burning City to my tbr as well so hopefully that’s just as good? The premise doesn’t intrigue me massively but then neither did Ace of Shades (or Six of Crows fun fact) so I’m still going to try and get to it at some point!
6. Ugly Sweaters – What’s a book with the ugliest cover?
I’m so sorry but Kasie West’s book covers.
I read this one recently and I didn’t love it (I think I gave it 2 stars unfortunately) and the covers also just scream ~Wattpad~.
But like the 2014 Wattpad not Wattpad covers now (some of which are actually so pretty).
Unrelated but if you’re wanting some good Wattpad recommendations I loved Once Upon A One Night Stand – I read it last year and it was so good!!
7. Movie Marathon – What’s the last book you binge read?

I’m not finished but I’m currently racing through Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles and it’s so so good!
I love the main character Kallia and I’m so excited to see what happens.
I think it’s going to be a series too so I’m really excited for that.
(Update – I just finished the book (Boxing Day) and it’s was so good!! The ending was very fast-paced though. But other than that I really enjoyed it and I still can’t wait for book 2 in August!)
8. Letter to Santa – What’s a book that’s on your wishlist this year?
Some books on my to-read-list that I’m excited to get to:
- Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody
- Heiress Apparently by Diana Ma
- You Asked For Perfect by Laura Silverman
- The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi
And that’s all of the questions! Hope you enjoyed reading this post guys and I hope you all have an amazing Christmas xx

Merry Christmas! 🎄 I honestly still haven’t continued with the Shadow Game books and I need to do it in the new year 🙏 Happy to hear that you’re enjoying Where Dreams Descend, I’ve been wanting to read it, but I heard some mixed reviews!

Merry Christmas Caro! I’d definitely recommend it – loved all the plot twists and it was so much fun. I haven’t really read many reviews for Where Dreams Descend so I went into it pretty blind and I’m really enjoying it! I’m about halfway through so I’m interested to see where it goes.

Yes!! I read the first two books when I was younger but I’ve recently discovered it’s actually a trilogy?? So I’m rereading the second one soon so I can get to the last one! I think the film might actually be a bit better but the books are still really good and I’d recommend as a nice light contemporary!
Thanks for reading and commenting! 🙂

Thanks Sophie! Baby pink book covers are my favourites they’re just so aesthetic🥰
It was definitely magical! I do wish the ending had wrapped it up a little bit more though (guess they’re saving for that for the sequel haha). & Yeah hopefully! Have downloaded it so hopefully can get to it soon! x
